Htmsysinfo creates html / latex / ASCII text documents which contain informations about your system.
In htmsysinfo <= all peaces of information were taken from /proc, the new version (1.7) (it is a complete rewrite), uses libgtop to get the process information, for example.
If you want to have a example output of htmsysinfo: Here is an example of a html-document created by htmsysinfo.
Of course, htmsysinfo is free open source software. It is released under the terms of the GPL (General Public License).

The Idea behind htmsysinfo
Well, for example, think you want to sell your computer or tell friends / a maillist etc. more about your system. In this case you can just use htmsysinfo and let it create a html-document which contains all necessary information about your system. You can send this html-file per e-mail, for example.
Htmsysinfo is currently able to create 3 different document types, you will find the right one for every purpose.
ASCII text documents can be viewed with every editor or the unix "cat"-command, for example.
Html dokuments are looking better than ASCII text documents, but you need a browser (Netscape, lynx, ...) to view them. Of course, an advantage of html documents is, that you can integrate them easilly into your own webpage.
If you want a really good looking output, htmsysinfo can create a latex document for you. You need the latex utilies to convert and view the latex document, but believe me, it really looks great.
